Meet The Osceola Brothers, A Rock Band That Defies Labels

by share

Earlier this summer, at the Hard Rock Cafe in Atlanta, I sat down to talk with the Osceola Brothers, a heavy-hitting, rock and blues-influenced band from Hollywood, Florida. The trio, made up of Tyson, Sheldon, and Cameron Osceola are some of the coolest guys I’ve ever met, and their music is some of the best I’ve ever heard among new rock artists. The lead singer and guitarist Cameron’s strong vocals pull you into the music, and are backed up by the powerful bass playing of his brother Tyson, and the focused drumming of his brother Sheldon.

With some of their influences including Tommy Lee and the rest of Motley Crue, Flea, Geddy Lee, and Jimi Hendrix, the Osceolas give you the nostalgic taste of classic rock and translate it into this new age of music. This is why they’ve been booked to open for legendary and popular artists like Lenny Kravitz, Kings of Leon, Jonny Lang and Lynyrd Skynyrd. However, on the night I went to talk to them, they were the the headliners.

When walking into the Hard Rock Cafe, I spotted them standing near the front, and I could immediately tell they were the stars of the night. Sheldon, the youngest at age 16, was wearing a white shirt that cut off at the shoulder. His hair was in a ponytail, but the top of it was covered by a baseball cap. Cameron, the oldest of the crew at age 20, was wearing a black shirt that was also cut off at the shoulders, and his hair was placed in a choppy style I found so cool. Tyson, 19, wore his hair down in a free flowing style, while just wearing a simple blue T-shirt. They were welcoming and shook my hand as soon as they saw me.

In the sit down that followed, we covered their origins, Native-American heritage, influences and even what they did in their free time. They described their music as loud, sexy, and loud again. Songs such as “Your Life,” “The River,” and “Leave This Town (Behind)” are living proof of that. To get to know the brothers better, check out the interview and music below.

Mack, 14, is a rising sophomore at North Atlanta High School. He enjoys listening to many different genres of music but finds himself mostly inspired by Kurt Cobain.
