My Muse, My Band

by share

My favorite band in the world is Muse.

I remember the first time I heard their song ¨Supermassive Black Hole,¨while watching “Twilight.” The guitar riffs and the lead singer’s vocals led me to look them up on YouTube. Listening to songs like the one from “Twilight” led me to listen to others such as ¨Uprising,”“Knights of Cydonia”and ¨Hysteria.”I instantly became hooked to their music, and eventually I listened to all of their songs (thanks to Spotify).

Now, my favorite band has come out with a new album, “Drones,”the seventh studio album by the British rock band. This album features 12 songs and is unlike any other album they have produced, with more military references in the background and also a special track titled “JFK.”

The group also seems to be telling a story as the album progresses. You start off with your hardcore songs like ¨Psycho¨ and ¨Dead Inside¨ that give a more aggressive message; then the album progresses to a softer end that displays freedom, like in the song “Defector.”

Matt Bellamy, the lead singer, explained on the band’s official website the meaning of the album, saying, “This album explores the journey of a human, from their abandonment and loss of hope, to their indoctrination by the system to be a human drone, to their eventual defection from their oppressors.”

This album opened at No. 1 on the U.K. charts, making it the group’s fifth number one album. This album is not at the top of my favorites list of Muse, but it definitely stays true to who Muse is and how they can tell a full story through their music.

I love Muse because they do not stick to one genre. They explore others like classical, soft rock, hard rock, and instrumentals. With Muse, you get a little bit of everything.
