VOX ATL Teens React To Crazy ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Ending [NO SPOILERS]

by share

A group of VOX ATL teen staff members got an opportunity to see the highly-anticipated “Avengers: Infinity War” at an advanced screening inside Atlanta’s Fox Theater. In case you haven’t been keeping up, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a popular topic around these parts, so the teens had a lot to say after watching this movie. Here are some reviews they wrote on the way home from the screening.

“Avengers: Infinity War” is a culmination celebrating the 10 amazing years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Many of its most notable aspects were highlighted in a way that is unique to Marvel. The large amount of characters does heavily impact the storytelling, however, the overall story is divided up enough between each of the characters to satisfy all fans. This film doesn’t only show how Marvel has changed but it also shows how storytelling through movies has changed since the MCU first launched with 2008’s “Iron Man.” This movie focuses on every perspective making each character seem significant with their own story and conflicts. “Avengers: Infinity War” will definitely change the MCU and its characters and the ways the movies are shown as a whole. Many more movies are still to come with the MCU and with “Captain Marvel” and “Avengers 4” coming next year in 2019 we can’t wait to see what’s next for Marvel. – Chris Jordan, 15

“Avengers: Infinity War” is possibly the most brilliantly crafted Marvel film yet. It takes the audience on a trip of a lifetime with its complexity and epic plot twists. Going into the theater, I was filled with anticipation of a movie I had been waiting for for so long, and excitement to witness yet again another Marvel masterpiece. I was not at all prepared for the rollercoaster of emotions I would feel while experiencing the movie. That is the only way to describe this two-hour and forty-five minutes culmination of ten years of pure heroism—an experience. The characters seemed to fly off the screen literally and figuratively while the script, music, and graphics swayed the audience back and forth into whatever emotion was meant to be produced. All of your favorite characters are back and even if you have never seen a single Marvel film before, you will still find something to enjoy whether it be Iron Man’s classic one-liners, Peter Parker’s naivety or the action-packed fighting sequences. Clear your mind before watching this film because it will both make all your Marvel dreams come true, while also crushing any preconceived notions you thought you had going into the theater. – Zakirah White, 17

The movie was good, like super amazing. It’s kind of astonishing to see the cumulation of ten years of movies and side stories. The movie itself was visually stunning and every twist and turn left me hiding behind the collar of my shirt trying to hide from what I knew would inevitably happen. I knew that this was only half the story and Marvel is definitely going to leave me hanging. However, after two and a half hours of movie, the plot twist happened in about three minutes and had me screaming, “What the f*ck, Marvel!” in a crowded theater of equally angry and vocal moviegoers. No spoilers, but let’s just say I went home with a lot of mixed feelings and an overwhelming sense of frustration knowing that I’ll have to wait so long to see the continuation. The storytelling was amazing and it was great to see all the Marvel characters’ plotlines collide. I urge everyone to see it ASAP so we can all cry/scream/rejoice/send angry tweets together as we wait for part two. – Kaylynn Parks, 17

“Infinity War” did everything the fans hoped (provided thrill and speculation as well as keeping the whole audience on their toes) and nothing we expected. While that serves as enough, the film also creates some very heavy conversation as to what comes next. What is to come for the Trinity (Iron Man, Thor, Captain America)? Are the insurmountable surprises we faced as an audience here to stay for future movies or are we fascinated with a cinematic universe that holds no consequences? With a more than needed end credit scene, how will our heroes be left and will they be helped? These are questions “Infinity War” rightfully makes us as a population ask. Best thing is…these questions will be answered in another year! Now it’s just on us to see the movies in between (“Ant-Man and the Wasp” and “Captain Marvel”) to maybe get more clues and drive the conversation “Infinity War” started. – Vincent Batts, 16

Besides Marvel DESTROYING my childhood “Infinity War” was overall a fantastic movie. This movie will stir the emotions of the toughest Marvel fans. Thanos will surely be the villain that you love to hate. I find it fascinating that only Marvel is capable of summing up 10 years in almost three hours. I’m pretty sure that they are going to make me wait at least a year to find out what happens next (unless I read the comics) but until then I will drum up theories on why they decided to break my heart. – Toyin Williams, 17

To put it short, “Infinity War” was insane. The hype was real and worth it, everything was well put together, and in the end, a great movie was formed from it. If you want to feel nine trillion different emotions at once, this is the movie for you. It was executed perfectly. Thanos was a great villain who you could feel for, and hate at the same time. Although his mindset is twisted and tyrannical, his powers are a force to be reckoned with. It is safe to say that “Avengers: Infinity War” is the best movie in Marvel Cinematic Universe, and I simply can not wait for more content to be produced. – Mack Walker, 15
